Yeah, let's see... 15 year old guy, single, loves games, PCs, people, frineds, metal, drawing and stuff. Believes in God with all his heart, loves dogs, tho he doesn't have one... yadda yadda yadda. Oh yeah, Alganon, there is no Yugoslavia anymore. Now it's Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo. Thank you, and see ya in game. :D
Ah, graphics (hereinafter; GFX). The thing that most people take in consideration when thinking about playing a game. "Aye, sure, the gameplay is great, but what are the gfx like? Does my character look like Michelangelo's art or a bunch of boxes stacked up, one on top of the other?" Personally, I think that gfx aren't everything. They are merely a flavor in a big meal. But sometimes, that flavor can taste like dirt in an otherwise delicious chocolate cake.
Take Avernum for example. One of my all time favourites is Avernum 3, an isometric cRPG developed by Spiderweb Software. Why do I love it so much? I don't know. Some of you may call the story of that game 'generic'. Yet, I find it cool. Taking choices is a nice break after all those boring, linear games. Wanna be a lawful human that does whatever he can to save kittens from cave goo? Or perhaps a slithzerikai that devours the same kittens? Whatever you want, be it.
But, I didn't stretch this post out of my head simply to rant what graphics are and aren't. I wanted this to be a suggestion to Alganon. I'd give my right arm to flames claiming that there are TONS and TONS of talented, *unemployed*(/wink) artists and 3D designers. Look around, find someone and improve the gfx of the game. Yeah, I know, easier said than done. Still, my post isn't an order, it's merely a wishful suggestion, hoping and craving to be looked upon with agreeing looks. Just look at the Unreal Engine 3. It's a piece of marvel, and that's the mildest possible way I could concieve of putting it. It runs smoothly on my 2 yrs old PC, with detail far better and prettier than that of, say, Assassin's Creed 2. Plus, there is this nifty development kit (Unreal DKT) that is very useful to test the grounds. Now, I'm aware of all the costs that pretty stuff carries, but before you flame me, keep in mind that I'm a daydreaming kid that wants an ideal world. But, if something can be done, do it, pronto.
Well, anyway, thank you guys, for taking your time to read my somewhat short blog entry. It is my first post, after all, so that can be taken as a reason for this short post. If you think that an MMORPG can't be done in Unreal technology, take a look at this.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xq5_gRArsz0
Anyway, thank you, and see ya in game :D
