I have been playing MMO's since about 1990 when they were text on a terminal screen on a college campus. I have played many MMO's starting with UO(when not taking muds into account), going on to EQ and then on to many many others. EQ is the only one I have played for any length of time as I usually get bored with all the games that have come out since WoW/EQ 2 came out which is when I stopped playing EQ.
I am currently looking for a game that I can play longterm.
I am also looking for a guild of good mature people who play latenight - 11pm to 2 or 3am CST in raid numbers.
Something else I have written about in various posts but wanted to include in something a bit more permenent.
As time goes by any successfull game will have expansions. Alganon allready plans on at least one expansion every 6 months. The problem occurs when new expansions expand the power of existing characters and classes in order to provide new content and the lure of new rewards for existing players to keep them entertained. Eventually after 2 or 3 expansions the players become so powerfull that all of the "old world" becomes meaningless and trivial.
After going through various posts throughout the forums I began to think of a different way to view things outside of the normal Hardcore vrs Casual titles that peope usually use. These two titles I do not think really capture the essence of who gamers really are and what they want.
I am currently refering to the two viewpoints as:
Playstyle #1 and Playstyle #2.
