I think I've taken this as far as I can. My understanding of the power locked in these idols is limited but there is another who might be able to tell you more and get to the bottom of all of this.
There is a Frognar called Seabreeze on Three Brothers in the Jagged Isles. If you can find him he might be able to tell you more.

Ponce not know the half of it! Sandsong being tricked. Lusha come from the sea and say Sandsong Frognar must collect idols. Idols use in vortex. Vortex only go one place... Lusha A'ton!
Lusha try to make vortex to Lusha A'ton but need many idols to make stable. If Mother A'ton come to Sandshore all Frognar die. We stop them! FROAAAAAK!
